Are you interested in conducting your master thesis work with the Tribomaterials Group, or within the subject of tribology at an external company? We will hold an informational meeting where you can learn more about us as a research group, how to apply, and current thesis works for the spring semester of 2024. After a few years hiatus we will finally arrange the Ångström Tribomaterials Days again!

Invitations will soon arrive in your mail boxes but please mark down May 30-31 in your calendars right away. We look forward to seeing many of you again for presentations and discussions about tribological advances and challenges.

Two new master thesis workers have begun their respective works at the Tribomaterials group. We welcome Martin Hallhagen and Julia Rosengren.

Martin will work with method development to study initial wear mechanisms of cultivator points.

Julia will work with the effect of oxygen on the wear of hard metal in contact with cupper alloys.

Both these projects are closely connected to larger ongoing projects in the group.

Early this Autumn two of our PhD students, and valued colleagues, will defend their doctoral theses.

First on September 23rd is Anders Holmberg. His work has been on powder metallurgical steels and especially towards gear applications, where porosity plays a crucial role for fatigue properties.

A couple weeks later, October 7th, it is time for Carl Johan Karlsson Hassila. His work has been about additive manufacturing, more specific regarding how to print in Inconel and how the micro structure in the material can be optimised by fine tuning the process parameters.

During the spring, André Larsson and Clara Landström have performed their respective master thesis work with us at the Tribomaterials group. André will present his work on diffusion between copper and hard metal on thursday 23/6. Clara will present her work on wear mechanisms of tools for agriculture on 24/8.

The Tribomaterials group have accepted a new PhD student. We welcome Vidhiaza Leviandhika to the group. More information about Vidhiaza can be found under People.

The Tribomaterials group have accepted two new PhD students. We welcome Maria Wojtowicz and Felix Ekholm to the group. More information about Maria and Felix can be found under People.

During the fall of 2020 we have had two master thesis workers at the Tribomaterials group. Alma Fjällström presented on 21/1 her work Method development for a tribological diffusion couple of rock and cemented carbide. In the near future, Maria Wojtowicz will present her work Macro composites for crushing - additive manufacturing of hard phase.

We have chosen to postpone ÅTMD until further notice. A major reason for us organizing this event is the physical meeting and the informal discussions between the presentations. We see a great value in these and have therefor decided to not hold a digital event - but rather wait until we can meet you in person again.

We hope that the situation will improve soon and that we can hold ÅTMD at some point during 2021. Please keep a look out towards the summer when we hopefully can give an update.
