Leeds is home to the largest NHS Trust in the UK  with more than 3000 beds and more than £1bn turnover.

Chapel Allerton Hospital is the base for musculoskeletal services across the city and hosts the NIHR funded Biomedical Research Centre, dedicated to musculoskeletal clinical research.

Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust staff publish more than 1000 research publications a year, with rheumatology and orthopaedics particular research strengths.


Role in the project: ESR secondment host and co-supervisors of ESR 6 (acquisition of activities of daily living to inform real-world simulator inputs).

Prof. Anthony Redmond is Head of the Section of Clinical Biomechanics and Physical Medicine at the Leeds University Institute of Rheumatic and Musculoskeletal Medicine.  Anthony Founded the Joint Replacement Technologies group within the NIHR Biomedical Research Centre, with a particular interest in imaging and biomechanics of joint replacements in large patient cohorts.
