Dr. Susanne Lewin
My research interests are biomechanics and biomaterials. Currently, I am a postdoctoral researcher in the EIT Health project SOFTBONE. By the use of a recently developed bone cement, this project aims to improve the treatment of spinal fractures in osteoporotic patients. I will evaluate the possibility to use the softer cement as a treatment for painful degenerated intervertebral discs.
In my research, mechanical testing and numerical analysis is used to evaluate biomechanical properties. Moreover, I use mechanical computed tomography and quantitative image analysis for evaluation of pre-clinical and clinical biomaterial performance.
