Zaki Alomar
My postdoctoral project at Uppsala University revolves around developing more reliable and long-lasting biomedical implants. The focus will be on biodegradable scaffolds mainly made of Magnesium alloys. The primary objective of my project is to enhance the durability and performance of these implants by precisely manipulating their degradation rates through a series of mechanical and in-vitro testing as well as alloying strategies. Also, numerical models will be developed to simulate the corrosion behavior of the implants alleviating the need for extensive experimental testing. Ultimately, the success of this project represents a crucial step forward in improving patient care, minimizing complications, and fostering a more sustainable approach to medical interventions.
