A 3D printer for the next generation of supercapacitors
The project includes the development of a new type of test table with nanometer control over cm-sized volumes as well as a new type of printhead. The test table is based on a completely new storage technology that improves straightness and flatness by ten tens compared to the best commercial tables. The writing unit is prepared for electrically field-activated writing technology.
In order to be able to evaluate an ideal electrode material for a supercapacitor, additive manufacturing (AM) with nanometer resolution will be used and the project includes both the development of a new type of specimen table with nanometer control over cm-large volumes and a new type of printhead. The specimen table is based on a completely new guiding technology that improves straightness and flatness by an order of magnitude compared to the best commercial tables. The writing unit is prepared for electrowriting technology that allows printing of ceramic and metallic nanoparticles or sub-micrometer-wide droplets / strands of polymers at speeds up to cm /s.
