Popular science presentation

This Division of Applied Mechanics was formed in December 2010, previously known as the Division of Solid Mechanics. Since then, our group has grown and our teaching and research activities are expanding also into new areas within applied mechanics, especially structural mechanics in civil engineering applications. 
Applied mechanics is broad field encompassing structures, solids and fluids. Our work is today focused on mechanics of materials and structures. We give basic and graduate courses in construction engineering, solid mechanics, finite element methods and continuum mechanics. Our research activities focus on mechanics of fibrous and composite materials, wood mechanics, impact mechanics and fracture mechanics.
