I samband med 100-årsjubileet för IVA (Ingengörsvtenskapsakademien) anordnades upptäckardagen "Upplev, upptäck, utforska - som en ingenjör" för 600 sjundeklassare.

Ken Welch, professor vid institutionen för materialvetenskapm har fått finansiering från innovationsprogrammen Swelifes och Medtech4Healths gemensamma utlysning ”Samverkansprojekt för bättre hälsa” för ett forskningsprojekt om kronisk smärta.

Håkan Engqvist och OssDsign utsågs till vinnare av Årets Innovation på Företagargalan i Uppsala den 11 maj. Stor grattis!

We were at the 23rd Congress of the European Society of Biomechanics in Seville, Spain.

The Uppsala Biomaterials Day will take place on the 21st of November. There will be interesting lectures, talks, poster sessions and networking between local research groups developing biomaterials.

En ny centrumbildning har skapats av teknisk-naturvetenskapliga fakulteten vid Uppsala universitet – Upptech (Uppsala University School of Technology). Centret ska arbeta med att synliggöra, profilera och förstärka universitetets forskning och utbildning inom teknik.

Quantification of elements contained in a material is of vital importance for the development of safe medical devices. From February 2017 the MiM lab has been upgraded with the possibility to do elemental analysis thanks to our new Avio 200 ICP-OES from PerkinElmer.

Vi var på konferensen Samverkan för innovation den 4 maj 2017.

We were at this year's popular science festival SciFest arranged yearly by Uppsala University to reach out and inform the society. Over 7000 people visited SciFest and our booth was full of curious visitors in all ages, who were mixing bone cements, 3D-printing bone, and discussing today's bone implants and future life long joints.

Håkan Engqvist received a grant for 28,7 MSEK from the SSF for the synthesis and processing of active calcium phospate cements. This five years grant is part of SSF's focus on framework grants in materials science. A total dividend of 600 MSEK was granted to materials scientists all over Sweden.

We were present at this year’s Scandinavian Society of Biomaterials meeting (1^st-3^rd June, 2016) which took place in Reykjavik, Iceland.

Caleva, the spheronization company, visited us from the UK to install and train us on our new extruder/spheronizer.

Congratulations to our most recent doctors Yixiao Cai and Shiuli Pujari-Palmer who succesfully defended their PhD theses in June 2016.
